World Food Expo 2013

College of International Hospitality Management

Some 78 freshmen and sophomore students of IHM program  went on an educational tour to the Mall of Asia where thw WOFEX or the World Food Expo 2013 was being held specifically at the SMX last August 2, 2013. They were accompanied by Ms. Malu Punay, Lei Bassam Abdi and Sr. Carole Capili, OP. They saw  booths of updated utensils & equipment and new product ingredients. For those interested in the food business, new ideas were desplayed and open for franchise. Competitions were also held on the ff events pastry, fondant cake, coffee art, and chocolate carving among the professionals in the industry and its affiliates.

The days itinenary includes lunch at the Vikings at the MOA and seminar on Food Hygiene and Sanitation as applied in the industry. The seminar would solidify the theories learned in CAS 1 (Sanitation and Safety in the Hospitality Industry). The speaker was the Manger of Vikings.

Sumptous buffet amazed the students. Several stations were laid out like meatcarving which includes lamb, beef and lechon, canape, dessert, beverage, cakes and pastries and best of all the seafood station.

The days activity ended with plenty of learnings and awareness of the industry they want to belong.
