Timeline(1957-2002)
1957 Siena College of Taytay, formerly St. Catherine Academy, was opened during the term of the late Mother Natividad Pilapil, O.P., then Superior General of the Congregation. This was a response to the invitation of the late Cardinal Rufino Santos, Archbishop of Manila.
1960 Father Pedro Hilario, the Parish Priest of Taytay and Mother Ma.Stella Salao, O.P. the first Superior Directress and Principal, were responsible in making possible the opening of the first classes for the first and second year students enrolled. The third and fourth year levels were opened for the succeeding year. The first graduation exercise for fifty (50)graduates.
1965 The Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary education courses were all fully established and accredited by the Department of Education and Culture.
The succeeding decades saw the unprecedented growth and development of the Institution. Several expansions, in the form of building, programs and services, have been made. Enrollment numbers have increased annually in the both grade and high school department and with this, a corresponding increase in the school personnel.
1980 On December 7, with the inauguration and blessing of a four-story building on a 1.5-hectare site along Rodriquez Avenue, the central administration offices and the junior and senior levels were located to the new site.
1982 marked the commencement of a new era in the history of the school. The College Department was opened. This is in response to the growing need of the communities in the Rizal Province. To date the College Department offers the four year bachelor degree in Business Administration, Computer Education, Secondary Education, Secretarial Administration as well as certificates in Clerical, Junior Secretarial, two-year Basic Computer Programming courses and short-term courses.
Along with this development is the construction of two more building in the new site, a two storey to house the senior and the Sister’s Convent. It is also during this transition that the institution’s name is changed from St. Catherine Academy to Siena College of Taytay with the three levels of education now in full operation.
1983 A very important milestone in the College’s life is the adoption of the Catholic School Systems Development Program in 1983. The major goals of the CSSD Program are to update and improve the total operation of the school and to provide the direction in the Christian formation of the members of the academic community.
1987 The intensive implementation of the program was temporally suspended due to internal problems in the school. However, the College continued to implement its development program with special focus on the formation of people: school personnel, students, parents. The student activities program assumed a greater vigor and dynamism for the school year 1988-1989 in the both academics and co-curricular/extra-curricular areas.
1988 The parents, who form an integral part of the school community made their influence felt in June and the Parents Homeroom Organization and the family Advisory Councils have been very active, cooperative and supportive of the school’s programs and projects as well as their own program of formation.
1989 In October ,the Alumni Association was formally organized which included graduates of 1960 to 1988. The roster of graduates was a revelation. There are now a good number of men and women in varying degrees of involvement in public and private services in their own way of giving their share to the service of God, their country and to their fellowmen.
2002 In June, additional courses were added to meet the demands of the changing times. These are nursing, computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering and industrial engineering.
